TRANSPIER
Design 2000
Situated in Gas Works Park, this public art proposal is a glass-enclosed staircase that descends below the waterline, giving a new awareness of the interdependent relationship between Seattle’s urban environment and the marine ecosystem that surrounds us. A hollow caisson supports the structure and extends up to the surface to provide light to the end of the pier.
