METHOW VALLEY, WASHINGTON

The rapid increases in housing costs seen throughout the Methow region have been even more striking in the north valley due to Mazama’s growth as a vacation destination. As in many resort areas, it is increasingly difficult for the employees who enable the area’s success to live near their workplace.

Following up on the success of the Canyon Street project, CAST worked with a private donor in Mazama to adapt a similar design in partnership with the Methow Housing Trust. The project adds ten affordable units as part of a development that mixes affordable and market rate homes in a single neighborhood. Four 2- and 3-bedroom homes are now occupied with an additional six under construction.
