SPOKANE Six

MULTIFAMILY — MISSING MIDDLE HOUSING — SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE

SPOKANE, WASHINGTON

The simple form of the Spokane Six is energy efficient while articulated with deep roof overhangs and a front porch structure. The scale fits the neighborhood where it will be adjacent to single-family homes.

It is inspired by ‘Passivhaus’ principles and is a compact rectangle, conventionally framed, with a slab-on-grade foundation and trussed roof—all of which contribute to a low cost per square foot. It has extra attic insulation to achieve very little heat loss for significant energy savings over the life of the building. There are ERVs for enhanced indoor air quality and each home has windows on three sides for daylighting and ventilation.
