Wedgewood Renovation
FAMILY HOME RENOVATION — SEATTLE MODERN ARCHITECTURE — PACIFIC NORTHWEST DESIGN — GREEN BUILDING
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON
In this renovation of a 1960's split-level home, an extended entry and open stair enhance the connection to both stories of the residence. ⠀
Vertical mahogany shiplap siding wraps from the exterior through to the entry, welcoming visitors into the home. The updated entrance also features floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the adjacent spaces with natural light. While the open staircase brings light into the basement the lower section emulates the alternating rise from the concrete stairs outside.
Accent cove lights wash the ceiling and walls with light in the living and dining spaces. Thoughtful details highlight the tall ceilings with contrasting trim amid the family spaces. The large kitchen acts as the center of the home and combines warm, deep red with neutrals throughout the space. An in-countertop compost bin and hidden pop-up outlets add convenience and make clean-up easier.
A spacious deck and all new siding update the exterior. The paving system includes a break in the pavement to allow for better drainage to reduce the amount of rain running down the rest of the driveway.
